A 21st Century Classroom
Computers and technology are vital to our everyday lives at work and at home. Our schools have also found enormous benefits from the addition of new technologies in the classroom. Studies show positive impacts on basic reading and improved writing skills when technology is involved. Plus, it also plays an important role to help kids with advanced work in math and science.
We believe putting computers in our classrooms, linking our classrooms to electronic resources, other classrooms, and experts around the globe can be an important component to improve the quality of education for our students.
The benefits are evident, but keeping these interactive learning resources up-to-date is a constant battle for our schools. Technology costs money, and it also requires training for educators. Teachers need to learn how to use the tools properly to give their students the most benefits technology has to offer.
When proper school funding is jeopardized, school officials are often burdened with the choice of funding technology at the cost of cutting other important school programs. But that jeopardizes our schools' ability to create successful, well-rounded students.
We need to make 21st century classrooms a priority!
